Vanilla Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 cups (320 grams) all-purpose flour

  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup (230 grams) unsalted butter, softened

  • 2 cups (400 grams) granulated sugar

  • 4 large eggs

  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

  • 1 cup (240 ml) whole milk

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven: to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. Combine dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

  3. Cream butter and sugar: In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.

  4. Add eggs and vanilla: Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  5. Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk: Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix just until combined.

  6. Bake: Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  7. Cool: Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Vanilla Buttercream Frosting

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (230 grams) unsalted butter, softened

  • 4 cups (480 grams) powdered sugar

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 2-3 tablespoons heavy cream

Instructions:

  1. Cream butter: In a large bowl, beat the butter until creamy.

  2. Add powdered sugar and vanilla: Gradually add the powdered sugar, beating until well combined. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  3. Add cream and beat: Add heavy cream, one tablespoon at a time, and beat until the frosting is light and fluffy.

Once your cakes are completely cool, frost them with the vanilla buttercream frosting. Enjoy your homemade vanilla cake!
